VibeSwipe
Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before you go live.
Is VibeSwipe free?
Yes. VibeSwipe is completely free random video chat. No paywall, no premium tier, no card details. Start swiping and matching straight away.
Do I need an account or sign-up?
No. There is no registration, no email and no phone number. VibeSwipe is anonymous and for adults only. Pick video or chat only, fill in a short profile, and you are in.
Can I use VibeSwipe without a camera?
Yes. Pick chat only on the front page and you get the same swiping deck with text and optional voice messages instead of calls. It never asks for your camera. Your microphone opens only when you deliberately record a voice message, and closes as soon as you send or cancel it.
What is chat-only mode?
It is the same app with the live call taken out. You browse cards, you swipe, and when two people swipe right a private chat opens for text, photos and voice messages. There is no call at any point and no camera is turned on. The microphone is used only while you record a voice message.
Do chat-only and video users see each other?
No. The two pools are kept separate. If you choose chat only you are shown to other chat-only people and you only see them, so nobody is ever pushed into a call they did not pick.
Can I switch between video and chat only?
Yes. The choice sits on the front page and you can change it whenever you are not in a conversation. Switching moves you to the other pool the next time you go live.
What picture do I use in chat-only mode?
One is drawn from your profile automatically, so you can start with no photo at all. If you would rather show a real one you can take a photo or pick an image from your gallery, and the camera closes again right after.
Are my messages private in chat-only mode?
Your messages pass through our server to reach the other person, because there is no direct connection between the two devices in this mode. They are not saved to a database. The server keeps the last 25 messages of the conversation you are in so a report has something to show, and drops them when the chat ends. If the two of you are friends, your own browser keeps a copy of the conversation on your device so you can pick it up next time, and that copy never leaves your browser. The one exception is a message you send to a friend who is not connected: we hold that one until they collect it, then delete it.
How is VibeSwipe different from Omegle?
You swipe through profile cards and only connect when you both pick each other, so every chat is mutual. VibeSwipe also puts more into safety: active moderation, and a strict 18+, no-explicit-content rule.
Is VibeSwipe safe, and how is it moderated?
VibeSwipe is actively moderated. Every chat has a one-tap report button, reports are reviewed by human moderators, and repeated reports can trigger an automatic temporary suspension. Nudity, sexual content, harassment, and minors are banned.
Is VibeSwipe a dating or cam site?
No. VibeSwipe is for casual conversation and meeting new people. It is not a dating app and it is not an adult or cam site. Sexual and explicit content is banned.
Is my video chat private?
Your video and call audio connect directly between devices over WebRTC, and we don't record or store your calls. The only exception is moderation: if someone reports a user, a single still image and a short chat snippet are saved for our moderators. Chat-only text, photos and voice messages pass through our server so they can reach the matched person. Voice messages for an offline friend can be stored temporarily until delivery, then they are deleted; undelivered messages expire after 14 days.
Can I use VibeSwipe on my phone?
Yes. VibeSwipe is built for phones first and runs in any modern browser on Android, iPhone and desktop. There is nothing to download or install.
What do I need to start a random video chat?
Just a device with a camera and microphone and a modern browser. Tap start, allow camera access, take a quick profile photo, and begin swiping. For chat only you need only the browser; a microphone is optional and used only if you choose to record a voice message.
How do I report someone?
Every chat has a one-tap report button. Reports are sent to our moderators for review, and accounts that break the rules are removed or banned.
How can I suggest a feature or share feedback?
Open Help & feedback, choose Feature request or Share feedback, and tell the VibeSwipe team what would make the experience better. You will receive a private code so you can return to the conversation and read replies.
Is VibeSwipe only for adults?
Yes. VibeSwipe is strictly 18+. The service is for adults only, and anyone found to be under 18 is removed and permanently banned.
Why do I have to take a photo before I can start?
In video mode, other people decide whether to talk to you from your card, so the card needs a picture. It is captured from your camera rather than uploaded, which keeps it recent and makes it harder to use someone else's photo. You can retake it as often as you like before going live. In chat only the photo is optional, because a picture is generated for you.
What does swiping right actually do?
It records your interest and nothing else. No microphone opens, nobody is called, and the other person is not interrupted. The conversation starts only if they independently swipe right on you too, which is why nobody is ever dropped into a chat they did not choose. In video mode that opens a call, and in chat only it opens a text conversation.
Does the other person know I skipped them?
No. Passing is silent and there is no rejection screen. From the other side, being passed over and simply never being seen look exactly the same.
Why is my deck empty or very small?
You are seeing who is genuinely online right now, and the usual cause is a narrow vibe or language preference at a quiet hour. The pool widens automatically after a short wait and the app tells you when it does. Trying a busier time of day makes a big difference.
Can the other person see my IP address?
In a direct peer-to-peer call each side ends up knowing a public network address for the other. That is how direct connections work on every service of this kind. It points to an internet provider and a rough region, not a street address. When a direct path is not possible the call goes through a relay instead, and then neither side sees the other's address.
Is the video encrypted?
Yes. WebRTC media is always encrypted while it travels, and that is not optional. It protects the call from anyone on the network, including any relay. It cannot protect you from the person you are talking to, who can see the picture by definition and could record their own screen.
Why does the call sometimes take a few seconds to connect?
The two browsers are working out a route to each other. A direct path connects almost straight away. When a firewall or a mobile network blocks that, the call falls back to a relay, which takes a little longer to set up and is completely normal.
What happens after I report someone?
A moderator sees one image captured at the moment you pressed report, a short excerpt of recent messages, your chosen reason, and the reporting history around that account. In video that image is a still frame from the call, and in chat only it is the picture from their card. They can dismiss it or apply a temporary or permanent restriction. Reports are not visible to the person reported and you will not be told the outcome.
Can banned people just come back?
Bans attach to browser storage and the IP address you connect from. That stops casual repeat offenders, but it is not a wall. Storage can be cleared and mobile IP addresses change all the time. Without accounts this is friction rather than exclusion, and any service claiming otherwise is promising more than is possible. People who keep coming back usually get caught again by the same reporting loop.
Do you record calls or keep my video?
No. Calls are never recorded and there is no archive. The only images kept are the single still frames attached to reports, which exist so moderators have evidence, and those are deleted on a retention schedule along with support conversations.
Can I get back in touch with someone after the call ends?
Only if you both chose to. During a chat either of you can send a friend request, and if the other person accepts you each keep the other’s friend code in your own browser. After that you can call each other directly instead of swiping. If nobody sent one, the answer is still no: the conversation ends and there is no way to reach that person again. There are still no accounts, so your friends and your code live in your browser and clearing your site data removes them for good.
My camera will not start. What should I check?
First check whether you denied the permission earlier. Clear it for this site from the padlock in the address bar and reload to get the prompt back. Then check whether another app or tab is already using the camera, because most systems only allow one at a time. On iPhone, opening the link in Safari itself rather than inside another app's browser fixes most of what is left. If none of that works, chat only runs without a camera.
Why does video quality drop during a long call?
Usually heat rather than network. Encoding video continuously warms a phone, and once warm the system slows itself down to protect the hardware. Taking it off the charger and out of its case helps. If it happens early instead, wifi distance or a congested upload is the more likely cause.
Does VibeSwipe cost anything or show ads in calls?
It is free with no premium tier and no payments. Advertising appears alongside the written guides, not inside conversations, so calls are not interrupted.
Are my chats with friends saved?
Yes, on your own device, and only for people in your friend list. Your browser keeps the conversation so it is still there next time. A chat with someone who is not a friend is never saved. The one thing we hold is a message you send to a friend who is not connected: we keep it until they collect it, delete it the moment they do, and drop it after fourteen days if they never come back. When you are both online nothing is written down at all. Removing a friend deletes that conversation and anything still waiting between you.
Can I message a friend who is offline?
Yes. Open them from your friends list and write; the message waits for them and arrives when they next open VibeSwipe, with a notification if they have allowed them. A message that is still waiting shows a small clock next to it. We hold only the text and the two friend codes, we delete it as soon as it is delivered, and we drop it after fourteen days if it is never collected.
Can VibeSwipe tell me when a friend calls or comes online?
Yes, if you turn it on in the friends panel and allow notifications for the site. Then a call, a friend request or a like reaches you as a notification even when VibeSwipe is closed, and you can also choose to be told when a friend comes online. To do that we keep the address your browser's push service gives us for that device and the friend codes your browser watches — codes only, never names, and never anything anyone typed. What we send is encrypted and says which code and which kind of event; your own browser turns the code back into a name from the list it already has. Turn it off in the friends panel and that address is deleted.
What happens if someone calls me while I am offline?
They are told you are not there, and the attempt waits for you: the next time you open VibeSwipe you see that they tried, with a button to call them back. The same goes for a friend request, a like, or someone removing you as a friend. We keep the two friend codes and which of those it was, we delete it as soon as it reaches you, and it is never a message — nothing you say is stored on our side.
What happens if I switch tabs during a chat or call?
The conversation stays open. Your microphone keeps working so you can still hear each other, and your camera switches off, because nobody expects to still be on video while they are reading something else. The other person is shown that you stepped away rather than being left guessing. If a message arrives while you are in another tab, your browser can play a short sound and show an alert so you know.
